Hara — Allied Seabreeze 35 Sloop

The Allied Seabreeze 35 Sloop (commonly called the Seabreeze 35) is a classic American fiberglass sailboat designed by MacLear & Harris (former Sparkman & Stephens associates) and built by the Allied Boat Company in Catskill, New York, from 1963 to 1973. Approximately 135 hulls were produced.

It’s a direct production evolution of the famous S&S yawl Finisterre (multiple Bermuda Race winner), featuring CCA-era characteristics: long overhangs, graceful sheer, narrow beam, and a keel/centerboard configuration for versatility in shallow waters like the Chesapeake, Bahamas, or ICW.

Renowned for its rugged, overbuilt construction (thick hand-laid fiberglass, typical of Allied’s reputation), it’s a proven blue water cruiser—stable, seaworthy, and comfortable in heavy weather, with many examples completing transatlantic passages or extensive offshore voyages.

One enters the below decks by way one step down to the top of the engine box and three steps down to the cabin sole.

To starboard is a large flat working space / counter top just the right size to lay out a chart book with navigational electronics recessed under the side decks for easy viewing and under counter is a large well-insulated, top-loading ice box equipped kept cold by a Norcold refrigeration system

To port is the galley sink (aft) supplied with hit and cold pressure water along with manually supplied (foot pump) cold water, storage outboard and below counter in lockers and drawers, and a two-burner Princess propane stove and oven with custom cutting board stove top insert..

Moving forward we are in the main salon. To port is a single 6.5’ settee that provides sitting and sleeping space with storage in lockers outboard and above. To starboard is a U-shapped dinette with table for relaxing and dining that can convert to a true double berth with the lowering of the table and addition of purpose made cushions.

Next forward is the passage way to the forward cabin with hanging locker and additional storage to starboard and the head area to port. All the way forward is a sleeping cabin with berthing for two (2) persons in a V-berth configuration with storage in drawers, lockers and under berth spaces.

The interior spaces of Hara are well lit with thoughtfully positioned electric lighting and natural light (and ventilation being provided by an opening hatch forward, three opening ports per side port and starboard and large fixed port lights in the main salon / galley / navigation area aft. Along with the three opening ports and hatch additional ventilation is provided by dorade vents providing fresh are to the head area and passageway from main salon to forward cabin.
