The Beetle Cat is a 12-foot 4-inch wooden gaff-rigged catboat originally designed in 1921 by John Beetle of New Bedford, Massachusetts. With its broad beam, shallow draft, and single sail rigged on an unstayed mast, the Beetle Cat is widely regarded as one of the finest learn-to-sail boats ever built — and is equally beloved by experienced sailors for daysailing along the coast.
