Attitude — Sabre 34 Targa Aft-Cabin Sloop

Sabre Yachts first introduced a 34’ model in the 70’s and the models design and features evolved over the ensuing years into Mark 1 and Mark 2 models with Attitude (launched in 1989) being at the pinnacle of this design evolution as the Targa / Aft Cabin version that provides the maximum in attributes be that sailing performance or accommodations and amenities.

Attitude has had only two owners since first launched and both sets of stewards have taken extremely good care of her since that time, strictly attending to annual maintenance work, making timely upgrades and always storing Attitude indoors in the off-season.

Attitude must certainly be one of the best examples of Sabre 34 Targa / Aft Cabin model either currently offered for sale or proudly under ownership with no intention of selling anytime soon. Hull, Deck, Cabin and Cockpit Construction

• HULL: Modern fin keel with balanced spade rudder underwater configuration
• Hull laminate schedule is alternate layers of 24 oz. bi-directional fiberglass and .75 oz. mat fiberglass.
• Additional reinforcing in all key stress areas such as stem, keelson and keel attachment areas.
• Uni-directional roving and additional reinforcements used in high stress area.
• Balsa core panels (.50”) used to provide additional strength and stiffness with minimal weight
• Marine grade polyester resins used for hull, deck, cabin and cockpit moldings
• Exterior bottom coatings of Blisterguard gelcoat and vinylester resins.
• DECK, CABIN and COCKPIT: Single unit, hand-laid fiberglass molding with smooth and non-skid exterior surfaces
• Balsa coring used in areas of high foot traffic
• Marine plywood coring used in high stress areas such as hardware placement.
• HULL / DECK JOINT: Hull to deck joint is fiberglass flange molded into the hull which allows stainless steel bolts to pass thru teak toe rails, sail tracks vinyl rub rail and deck flange creating a single integral hull and deck unit.
• HULL PAN: Fiberglass hull pan incorporating floors, ribs, mast step, engine mounts and other components designed to transfer loads of hull and deck to interior components. Bonded to hull interior with hi-bond putties and fiberglass cloth tapes.
• BULKHEADS: All bulkheads (teak veneered marine plywood) fastened to hull interior with fiberglass cloth tape and to hull pan with mechanical fasteners.
• KEEL: Single piece cast lead fin keel with stainless steel keel bolts. Keel bolts extend thru the heavily reinforced keel fillet and secured by stainless steel nuts and washers. Keel to hull joint is filled with fiberglass putty to ensure tight fit. Keel bolts are bedded in water proof elastomeric compound.

Interior Layout and Accommodations

The interior spaces of Attitude are a nicely fitted combination of FRP pan interior moldings contrasting nicely, with oiled teak bulkheads (full and partial) and furniture, textured overheads, white laminate counter tops with a Teak and Holly sole underfoot.

Furthest forward is the forward sleeping cabin with berthing space for two (2) persons in a V-berth configuration. There is a vanity sink basin and mirror to port aft of the berthing space and an opening hanging (wet) locker to starboard. The forward cabin is well illuminated and ventilated by an overhead opening hatch, opening ports and well placed electrical lighting (overhead dome) above the berths and vanity.

Next aft is the main salon with a 3-sided dinette seating arrangement (convertible to berthing space) to port, a fixed drop-leaf table on center-line and a straight settee to starboard. There is generous storage space and tankage below the seating arrangements and additional storage above and outboard. The main salon is very well lighted and ventilated by an opening above, opening ports to port and starboard forward with additional lighting being provided by electrical lighting in the form of overhead dome lights and well placed reading lights and with additional natural ventilation provided by dorade vents (fore and aft). Finally the main salon (and the rest of the interior space) is warmed on cold nights by a propane fueled cabin heater nicely mounted on the starboard forward bulkhead.

Aft of the main salon (to port) is an l-shaped galley area and (to starboard) a true sit down navigation station / desk.

Furthest aft (to port) is a private sleeping cabin with berthing space for two (2) persons in a large double berth and also including personal storage space in shelves and hanging locker and a handy seating area.

Furthest aft (to starboard) is the head area with marine toilet, sink basin and showering facilities all fabricated in FRP pan construction making for easy maintenance and cleaning.
